Siamese Cat Training
By Jeff LaDouceur
Siamese Cat Training Methods The Siamese cats are considered one of the more highly intelligent and can be more easily trained than some other breeds. There are many benefits of training your cat to do tricks or to just learn some manners around your home and with your guests. If you aspire to have your Siamese Cat enter a cat show, then knowing a few tricks can be quite advantageous.Of course who wouldn't want to be able to show off their cat and the tricks it can do when ever you have family get togethers. Can you imagine your cat fetching the newspaper for you? Also once your cat learns to open cupboards, this can become a favorite hiding place for them. Most people who are training their cats whether it is a siamese cat or not want a couple of thngs learned, potty training and going out the kitty door and being able to let themselves back in. Implementing Siamese Cat Training Ok but how do we implement Siamese you ask. There are a few simple rules to follow when you are thinking about doing the training on your own without any professional help with your Siamese cat training. Most of all you need have the patience and tenacity to be effective in your Siamese and if your cat seems willing to participate in training of any type. A good test for this is with litter box training, which for most is

the most important and most basic type of training for your cat. It is best to start Siamese when they are young or still kittens. Using a litter box can be daunting for some bigger cats especially if they are used to going outside to do their business. Training cats not to scratch the furniture can also be frustrating for some homeowners and you will need to provide them with their very own scratching post for this. Reward for Good Behavior You also need to know how to motivate your cat to participate in Siamese and to be happy about it. As you will learn if the cat is not happy about the training they tend to stick up their cute little nose at it, and it can be impossible to get them involved. If this happens often the best approach is to leave them alone at that moment and then try again later. Food for Siamese usually works the best. Cat's are typically very motivated by food and it works much better than praise. Unlike a dog who can very encouraged by praise. Most cats tend to prefer liver or bacon but many times you have to experiment to find what really motivates your cat. You are also better off not trying to implement Siamese when your cat is in the middle of doing something else. You need to find a time when you can gain your cats focus. Especially if they are in the middle of one of their normal or daily routines or right after your cat has really pigged out on a huge meal. If a cat is preocupied we all know it's almost impossible to get their attention for training. So again this is the time where you need to practice your patience. Siamese need not be a source of frustration or viewed as an insurmoutable task. There are groups and clubs that you can join and have your cat trained in tricks or just the basics of training. Unlike dogs, cats are not a terrible threat to people when they are untrained and you usually just train cats have good manners around guests and family and behave well in the home.
